Modern Methods - Dirac
Acoustics Engineering (AE) is a systems developer who create systems used for the prediction of acoustical parameters.
Dirac is one of these systems. A computer program used to measure a rooms impulse responses and calculating the various room acoustical parameters More information can be found at: http://www.acoustics-engineering.com/dirac/dirac.htm I will be using Dirac to measure a room’s reverberation time. This will achieve connecting a measurement microphone to an external soundcard that will be connected to a laptop with Dirac installed. The length of time, that will be recorded, will be set to 10 seconds to enable for the room to be silent and all background and ambient noise to be at an adequate level so that it will not interfere with the measurement. I will then wait 3 seconds before popping the balloon and then wait until the time shown on the screen has expired. The results will be shown by taking a screenshot of each of the results and uploading it onto this site.
